On one of my trips out I stumbled upon this little 4x4 rack upside down by a pine. While not a true shed and only 14 inches greatest spread it was still a cool find for the bone pile. I have done nothing to it except trim some narlys off the skull and soak the skull part in peroxide for a few days. There's a hole on its left side and some wear on some tips

Obviously from this year. Curious, you mentioned a hole on the left side. Does it look like it might be from a bullet?

You can see the hole in the seocnd pic, no way it was from a bully. Cool find

Nice rack. Nice find.
I am looking forward to going out into the bush in a month to hunt for shed antlers.

Take away the white from the flash and it's not that old. The second picture shows quite a bit of color left. Only a little damage by rodents. Although near a pine, if it were in the open exposed to sun and rain. Of course it's best to examine it in hand, to be sure.

its still not anywhere near fresh. if it was in the wide open sun the freshest i would say is last fall (2010), mabey winter but i still think its older. and squirels are not a good judge to determine age as i have found very fresh antlers completely destroyed. in the second pic you can see green on the tip which is a sign its been there for a while.
