My real birthday was on January 2nd... but since I had to work that day and school came up right after, I was not able to do the annual birthday hunt. So today was my belated 18th birthday hunt!
Our favourite duck hunting fields have been pretty darn dry this season with this really mild weather... but finally we have had a solid week of rain!! Time to finally get into some good numbers of lards!!
Early this morning before legal light the ducks put on an amazing show as they were flying all over the fields, high and low, left to right. Once legal light hit things slowed down, but we still had a steady flow of mallards all morning to make a GREAT hunt!
Tallied up the day with a 2 man limit o' lards.. 11 drakes and 5 hens. It was nice to see that they were still coming in range even well after we were done shooting, made for some nice bird watching lol! I was using my adored 870 and my dad was using an old 60's Ithica M37 that I have been slowly restoring to its original quality.
