Looking to buy a trail cam this spring. Wanted a bushnell but sounds and looks like their cameras are getting some bad reviews.

Which trail cam do you guys use?

i use a tasco 5mp. takes nice pictures... havent had any animals on it though all i have is pics of me setting it up and coming to retrieve it.... so either it stops working while i am away or i am not putting it in the right spots. $79.99 from cabelas USA (ordered online)

I use moultrie IR's and love them... ppl who have a good bushnell love them but the ppl who recieve the duds absolutely hate them, kinda like a remington rifle ;)

There's tons of threads on here about trail cams, just go look like up and gain some info

My bushnell t cam has been in the bush strapped to the same tree for over 2 years now and I haven't had one problem with it yet. The tree is starting to grow into the cable lock now but that would be about it.

Personally I have a Moultrie and a Scoutgard camera. I MUCH prefer the Scoutgard due to the AA batteries that last FOREVER as long as you spend the money and get the good ones. I think a lot of the newer smaller AA cameras are based on the same model so they are likely similar, the Bushnell Trophy cam included. I also like the smaller size a lot better.

I've used the Tasco 3MP ($50 at Walmart in the US) and 2MP E-Z Cams ($100-125 for 2 at Canadian Tire when they are on sale). The Tasco is way better - clearer pictures, better flash, batteries last longer. I recently picked up a Stealth Cam on sale at Canadian Tire for $75, but haven't tried it yet.

What do people use to lock their trail cams to trees? I had one camera stolen last year and am trying to decide what to do when I put them out again this year.

Let's hope they've improved in the last couple of yrs. I bought a Stealthcam 1430IR 2 yrs ago. Paid $225 plus taxes. Goes through a set of 6-c batteries in 2 or 3 days without taking any pictures. Maybe I got a dud...dunno? What pisses me off the most is that Stealthcam won't even respond to my emails. Must have spent too much money sponsering all those BIG NAME hunting shows to have and resources left for customer service.

They won't get another penny out of me.

I have 2 moultrie cams, they are great. Very nice pictures. Get a 2 or 8gb mem card and take high def photos, that way you don't have to worry about filling it up unless the cows show up, then its painful...

I thought it was a good deal also until I tried them out. Had to walk 5 feet away from it to activate it. Took them back and exchanged them for another bushnell trophy cam. 10x better.

Thanks for the replies.

I was looking at the stealth cam deal at wholesale sports. Just wasn't sure if it was a good camera or if the advertising on wild tv was all that it had going for it. I've also been considering a moultrie that takes AA's or the bushnell.

Has anyone here tried leupold's trail cam's? I was going to go with a bushnell due to their reputation of other products, but their trail cams seem to be getting bad reviews.
