Since the author passed away his books have become harder and more pricey. I have all of his sheep books but dont have the ones you are looking for.

Keep an eye on EBAY, i have seen the Hunt High book a few times for under $20. The mountain goat book is on of his first and I have not seen it for under $200.

Just gotta keep searching.

A beast the color of winter, is a good book for goat hunters.

What would you call a reasonable price? The cheapest one that shows up on the http://www.abebooks.com/ site at the moment is $100. I avoid ebay when shopping for old out of print titles as they always seem to go for at least market value. Search the used book sites regularly and eventually you find what you seek at a better than average price from a seller that doesn't really know what they have.

Thanks for the help everyone !!

Looks like ill be going to my Dad for high alpine hunting advice. Over $140 dollars for these books are sky high. Nevertheless, they are quality reads. Too much money at the end of the day.

Rare books, like rare guns, are only for those who are willing to pay a premium for scarcity. It is unreasonable to expect someone to sell you a scarce book for much less than the going price. Occasionally you can find a bargain in used bookstores or in gun shows. If you count the mileage of looking you might find that the asking price from on-line booksellers is not so high.

If you don't have the need to own a book for your library, your other hope is to ask your library to seek the book on interlibrary loan. You might be surprised what they can do for you.

My book addiction has led me to pay big $$ for the truly rare holy grail.

I bought both titles these from the Wild Sheep Society quite a few years ago, don't know whether they still sell books or not...?
Duncan used to come to the WSS AGM back in those days, most of my Gilchrist's are autographed by the author and purchased directly from Duncan at the WSS AGM/fundraiser event.

It's a tough market right now. You can research what they're worth but finding the magical combination of someone who's interested and has the capital to invest in the title is difficult.
I have 3 rare collictible shooting/birdhunting/trapping titles listed on another thread here and have had limited responses.
