Well this sucks.

Due to unforseen circumstances my backup, and backup backup plans have fallen through.

Jan 1-15 Zone A.

I dont have the sleds or quads.

Pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I am not going to go, unless something big happens.

Willing to split cost, and meat.

PM if you can help.

Snowpack here is minimal, jump in your truck and go, bring chains if you have them. Not cold either.

when u thinking of leaving?

If I can get a partner, pretty much whenever they are available.

you can rent a sled and skimmer from Peace Country Rentals in St John. All you need now is a partner, cause I don't think solo Bison hunting would be much fun.

If you planning on staying at the ranch why not just go up there and partner up with someone that is already there. I'm sure that other hunters would like to have another tag...

Just think how much "badass hardcore internet forum credit" you'd get if you went alone. Even if you just post scenery pics and tell everyone how cold it was, hahaha! All kidding aside I'd never consider something like that alone. Too many things that could go wrong, and end with you freezing to death. As mentioned your best bet now is likely to head up to the lodge and try to hook up with another group, maybe offer up half or 2/3rds the meat in exchange for some company and a little grunt work?

Good luck in your search.

I'd say go it alone no problem. Get a place at the ranch. Go prepared in case of emergency. Rent a sled and skimmer (you must have known you would have to anyways). IMO, if you play it smart and safe, you can easily do this hunt alone, if you have a few big game animals under your belt. I would not recommend a guy who has never shot anything taking this hunt on though as a first hunt. You meet lots of people up there who will check to make sure you're back in your cabin each night, probably even someones group to tag along with as these bison travel in huge herds, and second shots are quite doable. Don't think that you're late either, IMO the later you can go in your time slot the less pressure will be on the bison. An experienced guy like yourself should have no problem doing this alone. I would prefer a partner, but doing it solo is quite possible.

That is tough bison tags are not easy to come by if you are absolutely unable to pull it off think about turning the tag back someone else may be able to use it good luck!
