I sure miss ice fishing in the kelowna area.I used to rip the cover off a pack of matches atach to the line and the wind and the flicker of the match cover did all the jigging for me hands free lol.The good old days.

Great catch!

Does this mean the ice is thick enough to hold a Duramax?

Haha! Probably! I could jig out the window! About 18" of clear blue ice. The lakes are well frozen this year with the cold weather and low snowpack.

How did they taste?

Haven't cooked 'em up yet, but they are going to be delicious. Cold water fish from that lake are always top notch.

5 spike, my old fishing buddy Ray used to use the matchbook trick too. The good old days when all the lakes around Hatheume used to be open for ice fishing and we went on "adventures" on old 60s and 70s sleds. Good times!

We always packed a trail into Scorpion Lake. I remember broken lines, fish heads that would fill the 6" auger hole...great times! Not sure if there are fish in there anymore - I hiked in with my belly boat about 10 or 12 years ago, but the lake looked dead. It was susceptible to winterkill.

White Macs Squid 300ft and 3oz, baby blue Macs Squid 270ft 4oz, white and red/pink bucktails 250ft,

I have caught more fish than I can count with my baby blue macs squid with 350ft and 3oz, black apex or #98 lyman lure on steel line 150 pulls with 4oz usually gets some action too, use down riggers at 40 and 65ft most of the action is closer to the surface right now

We generally fish between 3.0 to 3.7 mph

Not using a downrigger? Can you estimate the angle of the line from the rod tip to the point where it enters the water?

We use the down riggers all the time, right now we are having more luck with long lines. The last 4 times out we have not had a hit on the down riggers

I don't know about the angle of the line but I can tell that at least 50% of the line that is out is in the air
