Hey HBC,

Well guys i woke up thismoring and had absolutely nothing to do, so i started cleanin all my hunting gear and realized i have about 3 or 4 good hunting hats that i wear regularly, so i decided to take the little 2point (one of his antlers is broken) i got in 2010 and make a couple of hat racks outta them, all i did was simply cut the antlers off flush at the burrs and then i drilled a hole in the bottom of each antler, then i broke the heads off a couple screws i had layin around the house and screwed them into the bottom of the antlers, now i have 2 unique hat racks to hang my hunting hats on

here are a couple of pics

no glue was used, i had 2 #8x2 1/2" screws so i broke them in half, then i picked a drill bit that was a tiny bit smaller then the screw, then once i drilled the holes in the antlers i screwed the flat part of the screw where i had broke it into the base of the antlers with a pair of vise grips, then screwed them into my wall

this is what my screw looks like that are in the base of the antlers

Why are they all white at the bases?

because the antlers used to be on the skull and when i bleached the skull last year i didnt realize i put to much bleach in the bucket after they were done :(, but o well $hit happens

Use some Minwax gel wood stain and darken them back up. It will only take 5mins to do. They look pretty bad and sloppy they way you have them.

hmm where do i find Minwax? iv never heard of it before, cuz i do agree they look pretty sloppy with the white at the bottom, thats why i didnt make them into racks untill thismorning when i was bored

Lots of stuff you can do with old racks. This was a request from my wife when I renoed the downstairs bathroom. She wanted it to be "rustic". You can't see the skull plate unless you are down on your knees looking up under the countertop so it actually looks kinda cool.:-D

Well done Elkaddict! that looks wicked! and was a great idea from the wife, Rubicon500 i plan on gettin out this weekend for a hike last year i found a matching set of 5x5 whitetail sheds that were touchin eachother when i picked them up, and when i was in edmonton in november i stopped at cabelas and found a plastic skull plate that mounts sheds and it looks pretty good,
