Well since we built a nice shelter for the Sculpin we thought we better get her out there catching some prawns. Today was beautiful out on the water and was really fun to get out there and catch some food for Christmas. The boat ran great and we managed around 400 prawns.

Hauling them up.

Homemade. We built a few of them years ago. I'm about to build a nice one with a newer design that I have seen on the net. We just use the cheap Costco or what have you ATV winches that come on sale every once in a while. There slower than an Ace but pull way harder.

Don't know where "the" crapper pipe is vortex hunter but almost all of the pulp mill's on the rock have a crapper pipe. Funny your the second person to ask how many pounds. I don't have a clue just the count. I think we will start weighing the catch for curiousity sake:-D.

Nothing like it for the holidays! Great catch.

When I was diving, we used to shoto a couple of Red Snappers, and then get some abalone and same scallops for a Boxing Day smorgasbord.

Living high off the hog back then....

We use Carlyle tuna cat food (you can buy it by the case at Shar-care), mixed with commercial prawn pellets, and then topped off with some Copper River prawn sauce.

We just mix it all up in a standard white Scotty jar with some small holes drilled into it. Hang it from the top of the trap.
