Wait till spring it's not good to pin them all winter while there is no food to replenish the energy they burned

What is the main food sturgens eat ?

Eulachons in the spring, lampreys/amnocetes in late spring/early summer, sockeye in the summer, carcasses of salmon and their roe in fall, plus a variety of everything else in between (molluscs, crayfish, dace/pikeminnows, and even a variety of bug larvae and pupae).

It took a long time for many sturgeon anglers to accept the fact that winter sturgeon fishing is just not a great fishery - some still do it, others are finding alternate fisheries to bide their time.

I'm with Thomas,I stop sturgie hunting in late November and don't start again till after March . Give the poor logs a break from entertaining us crazy fishermen.
Dust off the steelhead gear and have at it.
