Ok so I always see posts where people don't know how to post up pics so I thought I would put together a step by step guide on how to use Photobucket to add pictures to a post. It is a very simple process once you do it once you will wonder why you didn't before.

The first step is opening up a Photobucket account and then logging in to Photobucket. After you are logged in you will be on this screen. From here you click on the green button that says "upload"

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/1.jpg

After you click the upload button you will be at this screen..... From here I prefer to use the bulk uploader that you will see circled in red. It seems to work a little better for me. Just click where it says "bulk uploader"

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/2.jpg

Now from the next screen all you need to do is use the little menu box on the left to locate the folder that you have the pictures in. The pictures need to be on your computer hard drive not in your email or from another webpage. When you see the folder you need click on it in that menu.

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/3.jpg

When you click on that folder (arrow #1) it will open up all of the pictures that are housed in that folder and will display them just to the right of the menu (see arrow #2). Find which picture, or pictures that you wish to upload and click them. (again arrow #2).

At this point it will put those pictures in queue to be uploaded (see arrow #3) When you have all of the pictures from that folder that you wish to upload chosen, you then click on the "upload" button (arrow #4)

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/4.jpg

Then don't do anything for a few seconds until this next screen comes up saying you have successfully uploaded pictures. This screen will be your own personal album that you can share pictures from or access to.

Now after you have the pictures loaded into Photobucket all that you need to do is simply left click on the picture that you want to post here and it will enlarge a bit in photobucket and look like this, and from here you just left click once on the little link that I have circled in red and it will quickly flash that it is "copied"

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/6.jpg

Then all you need to do is simply come to the HuntingBC forum where you are posting in a thread and "right click" your mouse inside the thread window. This little menu will pop up and you simply need to click on the "paste" button and your picture will appear in the post. One note tho.. When you first "paste" the link it will not be a picture but a "link code" but when you hit submit on the thread a picture will appear not the "link code"

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee38/tnlpinkney/7.jpg

I hope this helps a few people that seem to have trouble loading pics up.

About time someone posted a thread like this. Good on ya shooter.

Now - how about walking us through copying and pasting pics from the HBC Gallery into threads using the same Firefox browser? I just cannot get it done - somehow.

I have to keep a copy of IE around to copy and paste pics.

Great thread shooter. I'll have to try photo bucket again. I couldn't get it last time I tried.

How about multiple pictures ? Great sticky thread !

Multiple pics is simple. Just copy/paste multiple image codes but I think the max per post is 5.

Another tip is to put an extra blank line between picture codes... (press enter a couple of times) it just makes it easier to look at.

i've reduced my pics to 640x480 and then down to 320 x 240 and it still says they are too large.

Is this still valid? I have been struggling here. Photobucket have totally changed their look, and I cannot find Hunting BC anywhere on their links. "and from here you just left click once on the little link that I have circled in red and it will quickly flash that it is "copied"" is the part I have reached a dead end... Help?

There is no Hunting BC link in PB

Find a post by Coach and follow his directions on the bottom of his posts.

or

go to Photobucket, if you have an account, then go to the picture you want to download and at the bottom of them is 4 boxes.
- right click on the IMG code and hit copy
- go to the place where you want to post the picture in your post, right click and hit paste. You will see the picture info, but no picture, which is fine. It will show up when you hit either go advanced or post reply.

A couple things, do not post picture side by side, put them on top of each other, try not to post the picture in the middle of the sentence and do not worry about resizing them, PB does it automatically.

Any questions, let us know.

Cheers

can you find the link that you "copy"?

When you open the pic that you want on Photobucket, (open it so that it is the only big pic that you see) on the right there will be a box that says; "links to share this photo". The middle one is simply IMG. Copy that link and then paste it into a post here and a picture will be present when you hit "post"

Thanks Shooter. The advice, "copy the link that says IMG, and post that", did it for me. So, I have posted my first photo (in Urban deer) and I thank you. Now we shall see if I can do that for another pic!!!

But I do think that someone that has been here for years and years should probably update the pics and instructions for us newbies!!

Hey, I was born in Campbell River, and know that area well, at least I used to!!

So a photobucket account is the only way? Seems rather restrictive to me. I have other accounts that host my photos, sure would be nice if those would work. Windows Live/One Drive, Google photos.... the list goes on. A number of other forums I frequent have no issues with me posting photos using links from other than photobucket, what's the problem here? I've been using web links to pages with my Windows & Google photos on this forum as a workaround, but that really shouldn't be necessary. This a v-bulletin based board like many others that work for me no?

Even trying to upload file from computer is a no go, I get error #2038 after the file uploads into the dialogue box. Once I close the dialogue box, nada.

#3 OneDrive/Live using 'view original' option.
Omigorsh!!! Finally! That appears to have done the trick, deselecting the 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally' checkbox!!!

https://pjbcvq.dm2302.livefilestore.com/y3pmsqCqJqP_8RvdEac-wDLSvPDx9TBj8zxRrIXf7sqgflIYf4I9CbEoEgzL88qjoaJwsf AOXAwKZdgXoKmqmWbr7tpbut5kwGHiVKeC-0plzaGpMksZ5e5iSEWL0SRiCAiRJfxDSuJNTMk_gCYheYdRdfY 7o_XwYws4GbMJAZSHlg/P1100012e.JPG?psid=1

Attempt using Google Photos
https://goo.gl/photos/NuXNEZE6MYhnFaHs7

To get the little x boxes above I had to deselect the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" checkbox in the Insert Image dialogue box. If I leave the check in place, I get an invalid file error. What a tedious process with no results!

It seems that in order to embed the photo in the HBC post, a link needs to have an image extension, i.e. jpg, gif, png etc. Most photo hosting sites these days no longer provide links in that format. Other forums seem to have figured that out & made the necessary software modifications, isn't it about time one of the HBC software gurus did the same?

mike31154

Another method, using the 'embed' option after bringing up a photo on my OneDrive account. Embed is the 2nd option (below 'view original' in the ... dropdown menu for a photo displayed on OneDrive). Once the link is generated, this option allows you to customize the photo size as well, original, large, small. Once again, clearing the 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally' checkbox was the key.

A simple upload picture button would be nice, most other sites i use have one, cant be bothered doing the whole photobucket thing its just another account/password to remember so i don't contribute much around here.

Woohoo, I'm on a roll boys & girls. Link from a photo in an album on my Google+ account. Simply right click the photo & copy. Remember to deselect "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" checkbox. No option to resize with Google account but forum software appears to automatically size to fit into post.

I'm with you on that one & also don't wish to open a photobucket account in order to include photos in my posts. Photos are bandwidth/storage intensive files & that is why most forums only provide limited storage/upload capability and make you link to other resources. It sometimes gets my goat when things don't work on one forum as they do on another. Every once in a while I get bullheaded & persistent in trying to figure it out & this time I've managed to get two of my accounts with tons of photos already uploaded to work. Surely you have some sort of account other than photobucket where you share files & photos with friends/family etc.? Many folks are on facebook, but that's another account I've stayed away from, instead using Google+. G+ is way less popular but I like it that way. Plenty of free storage for your files & a lot less inyourfaceannoying ads & trivial crap that you find on FB. In any case, I don't do FB so have no idea if linking to photos there is possible. Must be a few people on here that do? Perhaps they have it figured & can chime in?

EDIT: Right click on photo, copy(ctrl c), then paste(ctrl v) into Insert Image (From URL) dialogue box with retrieve box deselected seems to work for facebook as well.

Yep, nothing seems to work for me either. the insert image just gives me an error message when I try to use that, no problem on a couple of other sites. As for Photo Bucket, I used to use it all the time but that hasn't worked for months now.

I just click on the picture frame on the bar at the top ^^ and if it doesn’t upload resize it right off my phone. What this site has seems to work for me just fine. No need to use third party apps. Does this work for anyone else?

IIRC I was able to do it some years ago with Google drive but something changed & it no longer works. You can share a link to the photo but the picture itself won't appear in the post. I now use Microsoft OneDrive. With the 'embed' option it works fine. Free data limit not as much as Google, but it's not bad at 5 Gb if you use it judiciously. You can purchase additional space but I haven't had to so far.
