Well we decided to take one more crack at the marsh today. It was completely covered with ice and as I mentioned to Shotgun John we relly didnt expect much but it was better than sitting at home. Got there 1/2 hr before shooting light broke some ice and set the blocks. We had no sooner settled in the blind when they started coming. 2 nice widgeon decoyed in and fell. for the next 2 and 1/2 hrs the action was steady. mallards, widgeon and pinies. We even had some fun playing with a small flock of Canadas that we called into the duck deeks 3 times the last time they came in perfectly flared at 20 yds presenting their breasts, we both raised our fingers in gun like fashon and said "BANG, just wait till next week"
By 10 we were back at the house drinking fresh coffee and shooting pix. The final tally was 7 Mallards, 6 Widgeon and 3 nice Northern Pin Drakes. There was 1 pin and 1 widgeon drake that my partner deem worthy of his man cave wall so they will be imortalized in the form of wall mounts.
Not to bad a day for being"just better than sitting at home" sometimes yoU just never can tell.

Looks like you guys had a great time up there! Where we were today the ice definately was not in our favour...... :( Still managed some 'lards but it was slow.

Great job on the pintails. looks like a excellent hunt, and hope the taxidermy turns out good.

Beauty hunt jim!! I fly back to the island tomorrow. Need a day or 2 of scouting then its go time! Hoping to pound on some white cheeks this weekend!

Glad you guys still had a good hunt. Still slow down here as everything is unseasonally dry.

So that is what ducks look like, their the ones with the bills right? Yep, its been that long!
