nice colored bear

Got this one after puting the stock on a huge black bear. got to within 60 yds of the big black one then noticed this one standing dead still like a statue about 250 yds away at a tree line. This was supposed to be a high front shoulder shot but I did'nt compensate for the really steep downhill shot and well....I think its obvious where the bullet hit.
This bear was taken in reg. 2. really high up and about a 2 hr hike from where we had to park the quad. shot it at about 4 pm and got to the quad by 10.

Then a couple days later went back up to this spot and got the big guy. Man thats a lot of pepperoni between the 2.

A couple of real nice bears there! I saw one this year that was the same color as the first one but spent too much time sizing it up and making sure it was alone. By the time I decided it was a shooter, he lumbered over a log and out of sight. Did you get them rugged?

Yah this one was probably ready to bolt as well but as soon as I saw the color I couldn't get the bi-pod down quick enough and took it.

No, no rugs as I already have two. I had, and still have, my eye on a HUGE blonde one in the same valley that's gotta be over 7'. Thats the one I want rugged. This other bear is so big and colorfull that I mistook him for a grizzly the first time I saw him. Even after watching for 15 minutes at about 500 yds. then I saw him the following year at about 7pm on the day we were packing out this small blonde one. I wasn't about to shoot that big sucker 300 yds down a rock face at last light when I already had one on my back. Oh well, cant wait till next year. This valley that I have found has all kinds of diffrent colored bears, from blonde to chocolate brown and black, and all mixtures of the above. Its gonna be a long 9 months.

Pretty hard sneaking a thousand bucks out from under the wifes nose unless its worth the fight.

do a pair of 1\2 mounts... Looks really cool with a couple different colors hang'n together. I'm just finishing my brown from a couple of years ago and they will look sweet with the Island bear together.

Beauty bears love the honey flavoured one. Too bad about the rug cause you can get the thing tanned for about $400 it would have looked real nice hanging off a post.

to late now the rug is in the woods. What do you mean by half mounts? Thats painting a cool picture in my head right now.

Like split a rug right up the middle and half black, half blonde. or did ya mean like full mount, half blonde, half black.

Either way, it'll have to wait till next year, cuz I know where theres more colored bears.

I do regret not keeping that hide, but at the time I was thinking that I dont want to pack out any more weight than I already have on my back and it was only about 5' or maybe 5'5"

1\2 mounts is exactly that ..... only half the bear done life size. Would have looked cool with 2 differnt colors like that.
