Redemption!! After missing my elk hunt in Sept. due to a broken collarbone, I flew up to the Peace to hunt with my long-time hunting buddy who lives up there.
We spent a full 5 days freezing our butts off at -25 temps and saw very few deer. I had pretty much given up hope of finding a shooter (or even a meat buck for that matter). The last afternoon, we went to the spot where I was surrounded by 7 does and a small 2-point buck the night prior (which was a very cool experience in itself) and spotted this guy at the treeline.

(I still cannot upload photos so if anyone can help out - please feel free).
An embarassing number of shots later, he was down!! :-D My bolt was 1/2 frozen and there was a significant, noticeable delay between pulling the trigger and ignition (at least that's my excuse)!
At least my 1st shot was solid! 165 gr TTSX from my 300 Win Mag shattered his shoulder and double-lunged him so a follow-up probably wasn't needed, but....
I am very very happy to get this buck. Especially on my last day to hunt! He's mature, nice & heavy-horned and big-bodied. We just knew there was no way a little 2 point was servicing all those does!
To top things off, my partner bagged a whitetail less than 2 hours later!
This proves yet again that "it's not over till it's over"! Never give up hope!! :-D
