I had just finished lunch and decided to head for a bluff that would provide a good vantage point of the surrounding area; there was deer sign everywhere. I wasn't hiking very long when this buck spooked out of a shallow draw on the hop. I shot twice, missed clean on the first and knocked him down with the second. The shot was only about 80 yards, but it was still a bit of a hail mary because I only had a head shot as he was disappearing over the far side of the draw; and that is where I got him.
