There has been lots and lots of snow in Pemberton. Don't know if they are still logging on the Hurley and therefore still plowing, but if it's open it's gonna be tight and scary.

While we're discussing roads, where is Highway 40? On the Drive BC website it has Hwy 99 and 12 at the junction at Lillooet but it also mentions Hwy 40 which doesn't show anywhere.

Squamish Main is under lots of snow just at 21 mile. Time to start hunting on the snowmobile.

I am not in the area but found a great website for weather info <http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/canada_e.html>. Choose the area you want and goto the historical data frame (towards the bottom of the screen). In the "more info" link, choose "historical weather" and look at the "snow on the ground column".

Cheers

Morel: Really great link, thanks.

If only they had a weather station about 30 kilometres further up the Squamish Valley Road. :)

Where are you finding these changes? Can't find any snowmobile restrictions for region 2?

Thanks. Ya found those, but thought I was missing something new with regards to snowmobiles. Acsess is getting all but shut down with snow and was also thinking of using sled to get to locations.

Can anyone update this Road Conditions Thread. I'd like to do a couple day solo hunt to either Squamish or Pemberton in the next day or two.

Squamish Main? Snow levels, active logging?

Conversely, over in Pemby. Hurley and Lillooet Snow levels or active logging?

Thanks in advance!

Was up the Squamish main yesterday.

At the moment, the snow starts just after the hydro station and is easily passable with a 2WD with clearance until about Mile 28 (around BR700). After that, the worn tire tracks aren't very deep and it's rough going -- you'll need a half-ton and good tires. I had to tow another 4Runner up the hill between BR700 and BR780 because he was stuck. I didn't want to go past BR780 as I didn't trust that I'd get out OK.

Ya I was up there yesterday as well. I parked at branch 700 and hiked up it all day. Never hunted in Squamish, came in at dark, figured it looked like a good enough place to start. Man that was tough going by foot. Up to my knees in crusty snow :) Lots of sign, but they deer probably heard me coming a mile away. I did talk to that 4runner guy. I was surprised when he took off past br700 so casually. The other surprising thing were all the bear tracks going across the main.

Makes sense, I must have just missed seeing you come out. I was hiking just northwest-ish of you and thought I heard a shot fired around 2:30 p.m. Wasn't you?

Wasn't me, although I heard that one too. And possibly one other. I wasn't really expecting to connect on my first time out in a new area. I've just been doing a little scouting in areas closer to home Since ive already got two in the freezer I'm usually hunting other regions. Plus Proguides vids got me amped up to do some hiking.
