View Full Version : My 2011 bucket list muley

mark
11-22-2011, 08:57 PM
As many people have often mentioned here, the 2011 muley season has been pretty slow, bucks sightings were low for me, big buck sightings almost nil.
I stayed hard at it, burned the boot leather for 2 weeks straight. Time in the woods and patience paid off, when I looked up at a doe on a ridge, another doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, doe, hello....
I actually put my rifle down, pulled the binos to make sure I wasnt seeing things.... typical mainframe, 5" past the ears on both sides with lots of mass......Hmmmm...

While I knew before I pulled the trigger that this buck wouldnt score well, a buck over 30" wide has been on my bucket list my whole life!
My eyes have seen thousands of muley bucks, but maybe only a couple truly over 30 wide and they managed to evade me....I figured it was time to tick this off my to-do list.
I had just enough cell service to get a text out to a buddy I knew was a couple hours away, (garmin rhino on, come find me) I boned him out, and buddy showed up just before dark, after a little skiff of snow.
113 lbs of meat and a 17 lb head, it was sure nice to split the load for the long nasty grind down an alder laced ravine, in the dark!
And he took this cool pic too!

Heres the rack against my freezer (40" wide deep freeze)

Mark, every year you amaze me.

Awesome looking deer,

You should negotiate a deal with a taxidermy where you buy say a card for 5 mounts, where you get a discount. Kinda like me buying a "Skate Card" for my kid, you know where you get 10 sharpens for a reduced rate? Every year you get a trophy!!!!

Good work again!

Mark:

What a great memory this hunt and giant will have for years. I have to get down to areas where the bucks grow wide. I guess that is why you left here and moved there haha. Again Good on ya Man.

Bill, most of my big bucks all come from 100 mile area, including my biggest by far!

If I still lived there, Id still be shooting them there too.

A guy I know from 100 mile, who has recently signed onto HBC, has 3 bucks over 30" wide.

If you want my opinion, deer hunting is way easier up there, its certainly not easy here!

good job on yet another hog buck man ,it looks like its not getting mounted is that right or is the cape folded up under the head. Either way great buck and breaking 30 in BC is quite impressive indeed.

Nice! I was chasing a big one like that around, this year. Didn't get a bead on him though, but did have a 2pt walk right up beside me, little more than a fir-tree between me and him. The 2pt was trailing the big guy and his does.. but lead me into a freakin' honey-hole and a half! I know where I'm setting up, next year. ;)

Nice buck, man!

Well I shot my velvet buck there this year which was my biggest, and my cousin brad, who I think you know, shot the big nt that I posted in the gallery. My dad shot a decent one, not huge but 150ish, and I've heard of a couple others but haven't seen pics yet cause I haven't been back for a while.

Ive given the 100 mile area a rest for the past couple years....maybe time to revisit some of my old spots next year!!!!!! :)

Know of 3 over 200" in Reg 8, and then the smaller bucks.

The Internet isnt being used as a big buck picture board anymore.

Btw nice deer, know you put the time in and worked for it.

First off, great buck. Second, I really admire you telling the naysayers to get bent right up front. Third, it's too bad said naysayers have led to a dramatic decrease in people willing to post photos to hunting sites like these (myself included)...So thanks for sharing!

Thats a really great mature buck, close to 30" wide with long main beams.
Dark cape, huge thick chest, looks to be in his prime, likely wont ever be any bigger!

I like how you post a pic of a heavy mature buck and play it off like its not a shooter.....lol

You would cream in your panties if you ever saw a buck like that in the flesh, then again you probably don't have to worry about that ever happening:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Didnt you just say you come to this site to to see pics like this then you bash me after I post one? Your thread stated to keep negative comments to yourself yet you cant wait to make them at others. I dont care that you make the comments that you do because I can take it but it sure sounds like you cant when someone takes a crack at you. "Dont make any negative comments" you sound like an effin pu$$Y.

Take a closer look bud, that buck is not as big as you or the self proclaimed hero says he is.At best I put him at 170" And he isnt that much bigger than the buck my bud and I shot a couple of weeks ago.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee306/heydino/hunting20111151.jpg
Guys like you are always taking pokes at me but never seem to post any pics of yourself with bucks of any size. I may shoot smaller 160 sh bucks but I do it every year and I usually take two.
Ya your right I would cream my panties just like you or anyone else would, I will shoot a mature muley that I will hang on my wall one day and be damm proud of it because of all the hard work I put in, guys like you will still be trashing everyone else for shooting low scoreing muleys like the ones I shoot yet guys like Mark and other self proclaimed hero's still shoot and post low scoring muleys every year.
By the way Mark I love the wide bucks more than I do the talls ones. Nice buck.
