My dad and I had another great saturday afield! And it was pretty damn cold this morning... The original plan was to host one last honker attack with a few fellow HBC'ers... and we had a spot all picked out and then the horrible winds came and threw ALL the geese off of our spotted field! :evil: All well, dad and I headed out anyway to our favourite duck hunting fields for a chance at some lards.
We arrived at the field at 6:00 and were setup by 6:40 with 20 minutes to spare... 10 minutes before legal light mallards were EVERYWHERE!!! We held our horses and once 7:00 all hell broke loose!! We had a bit of a poor performance from the shooting department early on, lol... but mother nature was still kind enough to lend us 16 beautiful ducks :mrgreen:. 6 hen mallards, 9 drake mallards, and 1 beautiful drake teal that is gonna be taxidermied!! :-D He flew right over me, so I waited until he got to the 40 yard mark and I pulled the trigger............ and only 1 pellet hit the bird right in the head!! :mrgreen: Meaning he is gonna make one puuuurrrrrddy mount!
SORRY ladies and gentlemen... but no blended shells in our blinds!! LOL :wink:
