well there is NO Grizzly season open in that area...he never said poached..he asked if somebody perhaps thought they shot a black bear and maybe could not find it..still sucks to lose a Grizz this way.

We have had this happen before. Grizzly shot and left to rot for no apperant reason. It was as well shot right off the road so I'm thinking the person who did it wasnt in very much 'danger'...who knows.
We had another young grizzly get wacked on private property a few years ago. Families had 'just' been taking their kids to see and photos as it was hibernating in some round bails.
The loosers shot it in the guts and let it die there beside the bails.
Would be nice to put a name to one of these incidents for a change....
Its under investigation at this time....

Interesting maybe we have a winner here, this was posted on the Alberta outdoorsman a few hours ago. Some guy saying he wounded and lost a big bear near Pemberton. Check it out.

That's crazy! The guy probably thinks he lost a record blackie! Time for a ballistic assessment on the recovered bullet! Old school style.

Albertans, can't drive and can't ID bears!

Sounds like he thought he was shooting a Black bear not a Grizzly.Or he was really stupid for his posting on that other site.

Thats interesting to hear this because a guy in town was telling me the other day he had viewed a grizz feeding in a farmers field just at the entrance to meager FSR. Bet its the same one. That really chokes me off to hear this. If people keep poaching grizz in this area all the bridges will be removed from FSRs and we will never have access to many places in the bush. Apparently in the north central pemby valley the grizz pop is coming back do to the limited access now available. As for the duffy region grizzz pop has been declining do to poaching in the area.

I say we should post signs in the main FSRs stating that anyone possessing grizz bears or parts with out a written letter for LEH auth could be subject to bush law with a min sentence of having there truck burned and there knees shot out. Or just cut there trigger fingers cut off. That goes foe natives to, fact is that we are eradicating an important species

hmmmmm me thinks these are related.

Deer_Slayer
11-19-2011, 01:08 AM
I think they should be shot with a ball of their own shit....repeatedly!

JIL_24/7
11-19-2011, 01:26 AM
I don't believe the two are related. The report on the Grizzly says that it had been mutilated and parts removed. Dude on the other forum simply states he lost a big bear, not that he shot a Grizzly and removed body parts. Poachers are stupid, but I doubt this is the case. Doesn't change the fact that the death of a 600+ pound Grizz is horrible, and the fact that another poacher or group of poachers as this looks to be have put another black eye on hunting and removed a integral species from the eco-system. Stupid. Hope people speak up.

ROEBUCK
11-19-2011, 01:29 AM
who,s to say the body parts were not removed by others, long after the bear was killed

JIL_24/7
11-19-2011, 01:34 AM
That's a valid point, but that would paint a different picture of the shooter. He would still be an idiot for not being able to identify species and should be held liable, but he wouldn't be an out and out intentional poacher. Once again, doesn't change the fact that the grizzly is dead, and it wouldn't explain what jerk would chop it up instead of reporting it. I just think we're looking at two separate yet coincidental situations. I've been wrong before, though, especially when speculating as we are all doing.

I don't think anyone should bother to start flinging mud. Inform the CO's of the post and poster and let them handle it from there on out. To call and accuse with no real proof is silly when coincidences do happen. Lets rise above people.

Too many people jumping to their own conclusions, give the guy the benefit of doubt before you convict him without proof

"we are eradicating an important species"??

I think this is a stretch.....plenty of grizz bears in areas I frequent.

Poaching is disgusting. But accusing someone of Poaching without solid evidence is just as disgusting!!!

I just hope that the CO's manage to find the P.O.S. who shot that bear and then charge him with everything they possibly can. Best of luck to them in their investigation, hope they can make an example of someone...not too hopeful though : (

That a hole is a moron, if he did it, CO's now have a lead that won't take long to get on to. If he didn't, karma will get him. Either way, it is a waste of CO resources.

Alberta Outdoorsman has closed the thread now , he's pissed them off enough on that website as well.
Fabricated stories about anything poaching related with the intent of being a joke is pretty f***** stupid imo.

We see here from time to time, people back-peddling on their OP. They stick a foot in there mouth and COMPOUND it by trying to clean up/edit that post, calling it a "joke" and what have you.

Credibility suffers imo and I can't help but wonder; Where are all the "Men" in our pursuits.
