nov 8th a buddy and i went north to the a zone where he had a bison draw.as we arrive at the gate a group of guys were just about finishing loading up from there successful hunt.on the ground was the biggest set of horns i have ever laid eyes on.well after introducting myself i find out that the man who harvested this giant was other then former past president of the bcwf ivar larson.this bull has almost 23 inch long horns with base's well over 16 inchs and a width of high 33 inchs.i took a few pics for everyone and got his permission to post them here for everyone to see.once i got back home after our successful hunt i went on to boone and crocketts website and its gonna be a close one once the drying period is done.if he dosent take 1st over all its gonna be a very close 2nd.

I heard there were 7 in the group, and then joined by 2 Quesnel guys.
They crossed the river because they weren't having any luck finding anything.
Hit a lone set of tracks and caught up with the big guy.

Beauty of a Buff for sure!

A friend of mine shot a monster in 96, not sure if he scored it but it was close to that dia, at the base. He was so big we couldn't even roll him with two of us trying. Had to take him apart as he lay.

i truely believe that as long as the hanging time is representitive of the size of the animal then all meat should be just fine.the longer it is allowed to age on the hook the more the muscle fibers are allowed to stretch.like how beef is aged for 28 days before being cut etc

Great bison he got hopefully it holds up for #1 its nice to see records being broken. As for chewing on I think he will need good teeth. I shot a large bull in 96 hung it for about 18 days it was too tough to enjoy. I shot it at the end of Dec so hopefully his will be good. Mine wasn't. Like it was mentioned my partner and I couldn't flip this either we had to tie a snow machine to it and do it that way.

Probably will be a little bit tough, but not too bad. We got one in January that was also old and big. Took all 5 guys to roll the damn thing. It has all been eaten now, and with no complaints...... not even from the wife.
Good for them. Great bull for sure!!!!
Can't wait to go back.

Congrats on putting that brute to rest! Getting them on the ground is the easy part compared to field dressing them. Looks like you had a ball!

well i just got off the phone with ivar and after being scored by 2 official boone and crockett scorers.the final number on his bull fell just a few inchs short.
ivars bull scored 131 2/8 after his 60 day drying period.
the current world record is listed at 136 4/8 making that a 5 2/8 difference.
if ivars bull hadn't been broken off on his right side ,i'm sure he would had quiet easily become the new world record, which was taken well over 80 years ago.
after talikng to him ,i'm sure we are going to be seeing him here on the site.
