It was getting to the point where I was starting get worried that I might get stuck in where I hunt the summit had about 2 feet of the white stuff in the last 2 weeks.

Down in my camp area there was only about 5 inches of the White stuff but up on the summit it was getting real bad :icon_frow.

I looked at my trail cam where the big guy was showing up at times but no pictures of him for the last two weeks so I pulled the trail cam.

It was -18 in my hunting camp on Monday night was very cold and it snowed one inch the night before the area was winter wonder land and old man winter set in for the months to come.

I saw this smaller buck that was a fair buck but not the one I wanted and I said to myself I better pull the trigger on this guy and get packed up and out of here before I become old man winters friend LOL :).

Me by the fire myself celebrating my WT that I got that day tells you all from within my hart on how I feel about my friends and the people that make our country safe so we can do the things in life we love to do god bless them all http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon14.png.

Here is my clips and it tells all about the hunt and the last few days in there by myself http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon12.png...

Justin holding his buck he shot on Nov 13 that evening as for a small video clip.

After Christmas / New Years celebrations are over, you can start to plan for next years hunt.
Spring will be here before you know it.
That's more than a "fair" buck in my books.

that whitetail is a very nice buck wayne congrats. looks like your going to have to put on an addition for all your mounts lol. i am heading out this morning looking to fill my last blacktail tag i have never held one this late in the season. the snow was heavy yesterday in the hills around campbell river so im a bit concerned about getting up to my spot. going to have to put something down soon. looks like you had a great season good friends good times and deer hitting the dirt, it doesnt get much better than that.

You had a great season....Nice 6 point point, nice whitey buck, seeing the wolves and all of the other wildlife......

I think most of us on this site are a tad bit jealous that we don't have the ability (work/family etc) to do what you do, but we get to live it by wathcing your videos....

Well you had quite a season Wayne, I would call it a major campaign or major expedition.

Re the big WTD buck. I've noticed that sometimes these big bucks move to a different home range just before the rut starts. Me and my brother followed several big bucks over the years with trail cams, etc, saw them frequently until the rut started and then they plain disappeared. Maybe next year you need to get him early before he pulls his disappearing act.

Well, Wayne, you've had a fantastic season, a few ups and downs, but over-all I'm sure it was well worth it. On one of your last videos, you mentioned being a bit disappointed when tagging that nice whitetail, as if it was a consolation prize to not getting your monster. Yes, that huge one would have been the whitetail of a lifetime, but then what? You enjoyed the chase, putting a real great camp together, checking your trail cams, having great friends and their kids drop by, getting a great elk, and posting a whole bunch of really nice videos for all of the rest of us to enjoy. Sit back and count your blessings....and then start looking forward to your next season, and another chance at the "BIG ONE" On another note....I'll bet you sure are happy you decided to get out of there when you did....just look at the amount of snow that's falling now!

Like I said on my other thread I was lucky I pulled out when I did we had 10 inches of the white stuff yesterday got stuck 4 times and I had a hell of a time getting over the pass 2 feet of the white stuff up on top of the pass and to add we got the 10 inches of snow yesterday in Cranbrook you can imagine how bad it is up there now ,yes I count my blessings that I did the right thing taking that buck and pulling camp when I did ,thank god I did what my in stinks told me to do..

I like this is the reg I need all right and thanks for the heads up on the WT its really getting hard for a 64 year old to do every thing by your self at my age putting camp up taking it down getting the game animal out solo ,getting up at 5am going to bed at 10 pm helping others get there game animals out ,I don't have many years left to do this solo hunting thing ,a unit like this if I had one I could stay till the end of the WT season holding out for Mr big I am just finally getting myself back to normal after 5 months in the bush...
