My West Koot Whitey!

Scraped up a bit more luck this afternoon. A friend and I went out for a quick evening hunt today in a spot that I've checked out a few times this year. So far in this spot I had seen lots of sign, along with three little whitey bucks. Probably would've pulled the trigger on any little meat buck tonight, but we were in for a nice surprise.
My buddy and I were sitting in some trees at the bottom of a block. Lots of fresh tracks around. We had only been there for a 1/2 hour and were chatting quietly when Kurt notices movement in the top of the block. Here comes a doe moving quickly down a skid trail right towards us. We watch her close the distance from about 300 yards to 100 yards in no time. I kept an eye at the top of the block and sure enough I notice another deer coming. Bino's revealed it to be a great buck. I leaned my .270 up against a tree and followed this buck in my scope as he literally ran down the hill towards this doe. At a hundred yards he came into an opening and I grunted loudly to stop him. I sent the 140gr Accubond (courtesy of T.Bartell) and the buck went down in his tracks.
Pretty happy with this buck, one of the nicer ones I've seen in the area. It sure seems like the whitetails are coming back strong in the West Kootenays. It was an easy drag out of the block down to the road....now time to find a mulie somewhere.
