i was out quading this weekend in a couple of my favourite local whitetail spots. With a nice fresh blanket of snow i was blown away by how many fresh cat tracks i saw :?. Any houndsmen wanna go tree some cougars, i have a good idea where to start looking hahaha. With all the cats running arround it make sence why there were so few deer tracks.

Been seeing a ridiculous amount of predator tracks around here, this year. Went into the front-end of 4-40, and saw cougar tracks everywhere! Not much for game, the odd moose trotting down the road, but lots of cat and dog tracks.

x2 on the additional predators this year. I was hunting a couple areas in 8-08 during the last 2 days of 4-pt season, intermediate areas that are usually plentiful with both bucks & does. The one area had large cat tracks and the other had yote tracks on top of every deer track I saw. Perhaps another reason some deer are tight to the timbers this season?

We just got back from a week in the interior. We were playing with the coyotes (rabbit in distress ), then walked back to our quads. 350 yards up the road was a big tom switching his tail in the snow. He was looking the other direction so we crouched down and I teased him with a little rabbit squeal. He wanted to come, but wasn't stupid enough, then finally bounded off into the bush. Love teasing the critters.
Cats have a large territory and can cover alot of ground in a short while. Seeing lots of tracks doesn't mean there are lots of cats. Watch your own cat in your yard and see how much ground they cover in a short while. They don't call them curious for nothing.

Heading hunting today after work into my whitey spot. Last couple of yrs there's been cat tracks all over. Didn't have time to pick up a cat tag.
I just know I'll see one in there today.
