I drew an antlerless mulie tag for 3-32 so a friend and I were out scouting end of Oct and hoping to bag some grouse same time
We spent quite a bit of time on the road that follows the Yalakom river, going up (sometimes WAY, WAY up!) many of the side roads. Much of it looked like pretty good chicken country and every time we turned a corner I thought I would see a grouse alongside the trails but not a one was spotted.
Is this not very productive grouse territory...or were we just unlucky?
We did see quite a few mulies though - including one huge buck that was on private property, of course...and LOTS of does all over the place that didn't seem skittish at all.
Headed back next weekend. Hopefully will have some deer in the freezer this year. It's been quite a few since I've been able to get out.
