So I left last wednesday bright and early to go on our anual mule deer hunt with all the men in our family. It's always a good time. A few guys had drawn doe tags but of course 4pt or better was also open. The first morning I decided I would take my bow and sit in this spot I know where the deer cross at first light. I was hoping to fill my doe tag with the bow. Just as I was getting out of my truck i thought I better bring my gun as well just in case I see a good buck at a distance or something. It wasnt a big deal since I was sitting anyways. I snuck down to my spot as it was still dark. It was just light and I had been sitting with my bow on my lap for 20 mins and hadnt seen anything yet. all of a sudden out of absolutely noheer I here and see this big deer running right beside me nose to the ground and running clumsy. when i first spotted him he was at 20 feet max and he ran right in front of me as I was sitting in full camo and partially covered behind a bush. I began to count points and I quickly saw 4 for sure on his left antler. He noticed I was there and took a 90 degree turn to the right and spooked hard trying to escape over a nearby ledge. I decided I was gonna take a poke at him so as I still sat on the log I was on, I put down my bow and grabed my 308 wich had a bullet chambered. As he bounded away at only about 60 yards I managed to put the hurt on him. I knew I had hit him but as he dove down the edge of the ravene I was not very confident that I had made a lethal shot. Usually I would wait at least a half hour, but I know this area well and I knew that over the edge where he ran the visability was very good for several hundred yards. So after 5 minutes I snuck to the edge and spotted him through the trees in his bed at 200 yards. One more shot and he was down. I know it's cleche but wow did that happen fast. I had a good laugh to myself as I wasnt even planning to shoot a buck that morning. I'm happy with him though and we had a great trip all around. Good family, friends and tons of good food.

That's an awesome tall rack. Is he a natural 3x4 or is a tine broken off on the right side there. Cant really tell from the pics. Nice work all the same.

Ya unfortunatly he is broken off on the front fork there. He's naturally a 4x4 but still a pretty cool lookin buck even as a 4x3. Im gonna euro mount him!
