I headed up to the yukon wrangling for the summer and missed out on this years sheep hunt. while I was up hunting for dalls my parents and 2 of there good friends headed into the mountains on horseback to hunt stone sheep. This would be the the third trip into this spot in the last 4 years. The first year was unsuccessful with sheep but I got a goat and my mom got a caribou. The following year we headed back to the same spot this time we got lucky and I got my first ram on the 2nd day and dad got his 3 days later. Last year we couldnt make it back to the mountains so when this year came around we made plans to go back but i decided i whanted to spend more then 2 weeks hunting for sheep and got a job wrangling for the summer. I gave my spot up to our farrier who has guided many years in NWT.

The first day they split up into 2 groups my dad and our farrier went up one drainedge and my mom and our friend went up another. My dad and farrier found a band of 11 rams with one definit old shooter and the outher a respectable full curl. They backed out and decided to come back the next morning to give our friend a chance at the second legal ram. After a long all day stock the finialy managed to get into shooting range of both rams by 8pm. Our farrier shot at the big ram first and hit it just before the ram went out of sight. Our friend then shot at his ram and dropped it in his tracks. Our farrier then ran over to were his ram ran over when he got there he was sappried to see his ram maken its way up the mountain. A few more fallow up shots and the ram was down. Then the work begain, they didnt make it back to camp that night and slept under the stars till it got light out. They made it back to camp by 6:30 the next morning. They all headed for the tent for some well needed rest. When they got up they threw a tape on the 2 rams befor they got to work capeing them out, our farriers went 42 on his lelf side and broomed 38 on his righ, our friends was an almost perfect 37x37 and only 6 1/2 years old.both nice first stone sheep

They spent the rest of the hunt looking for another ram for my mom but no such luck they only seen 3 rams after that and a bunch of ewes. None the less was a very good and successful trip for my parents and there friends.
