I am heading up to Merritt tomorrow to do a little exploring and was wondering what elevation the WT's are hanging out at. I am going to head up Iron Mtn way and try my luck with some long hikes. My experience is in 8-5 and hunting the alpine for muleys (successfully). I am a little unfamiliar with WT's so any help would be great.

Any local knowledge about the area would be greatly appreciated.

If Iron Mtn isn't a great option should I head North of Merritt?

thanks,
Andrew

I have seen them all over the place, but mostly in the valley bottoms and lower elevations. As I have said many times on here, Surrey/Sussex (nearer to Logan Lake than Merritt) holds plenty of WTs and plenty of good ones, as does Helmer and those areas. Another good spot for them can be the areas around the connector between Merritt and Westbank, but I have always found them at 2500ft and below.

I was up by Tunkwa lake on Thursday, saw W/T does, but it was very warm and mild. Not much moving, maybe the recent snow will change things
