barley seems to work the best in the peace so i imagine it will work around the province for both whitetails and mulies don't know about blacktail. the amount depends on how many deer you have hitting it and how often you can re supply. a 50 lb bag will last from one to three days usually. deer as a rule stay on the pile for just a very short time but may visit two or thee times a day or nite. at our cabin a bag lasts only one night.

Is it legal to bait deer? I know it's illegal to bait bears.

We have used COB and it seems to work well with the muleys.

I have used sweet feed (corn/oats/barley mixed with molasses) and oats with molasses...I prefer these as they have quite a strong aroma, which MAY make the deer more inquisitve and come to investigate....50 lbs a bag, about $10 per bag at our local feed dealer....

I have used a bait pile with apples and had no joy at all, they just rotted and were not touched....

i use straight whole oats, for amount it all depends on how many deer are there, and what the weather is doing. when it is warmer a bag (50lbs) will usually last me 4-5 days, when the weather cools down then a bag every day or 2.

I've used C.O.B with good results and cut up apples work well too.

Isn't that like shooting fish in a barrel, I have a hard time calling that hunting even though it's legal........each to their own I guess!!!

Yep. Just put a pile some where that's handy for you. Come back the next day with your game bags and pick whichever huge buck you like.
