Spent a week in Alberta hunting Mulies, and Whitetail, in September, but weather was in the mid 30's. Got to stalk 1 mulie, and 1 whitetail...but no shots taken.
Now I'm on Vancouver Island to hunt blacktails. Almost got my first kill last night on a Gulf Island, but missed the shot in the fading light. Went back today, and put the stalk on a 2 pointer. He eventually disappeared into the trees. Went to another spot....came back to the area I had stalked the 2 pointer and there he was. I crept up to 30 yards, and then drew back, and released. It hit with a pop! He took off running hard, but folded up at 60 yards. Double lung pass through, and did not recover the arrow in the tall grass. Slick Trick Mag, did it's thing!

Congrats. Nice eater there for sure.

It might be worth going back and having a longer look for that arrow. Wouldn't want it being found by somebody and perhaps causing an injury....

Good idea....I'm heading back Tuesday, with another set of eyes.

That's just awesome! I'm so glad for you. So funny we talked about it this summer, and now you reached and crossed that threshold. I go up Sumas Mt quite a few times a week, and I saw only one buck, way to far. But I have to think my luck will change at some point.
Congrats!!!!

:D

I love the whole process. I had a nice buck today, looking down from a hill, about 100 yards from me. He wanted to go down the trail, which would have put him passing by me at 30 yards. He decided not to. Dang! Wind was blowing from him to me..so that didn't bust me. I guess that's why he got so big!

Yup, I hear you.

I was out stomping around on a bit of acreage this afternoon (unfortunately not hunting) and found myself within 12 yards of a nice 2-point and a larger 3-point, was wishing for my bow - big time.

The 3-point was in no way disturbed that I was there (I was screened by some branches) and he calmly rubbed his tarsals together while gently peeing on them before slowly moving off. Guess he could see that I was unarmed...........well, except for my small-bore single shot that is.
