Heading out on my first official hunting trip. Looking for any advice that anybody cares to share about the area (Alexis Creek). Have the advantage of a local buddy to show us around but any advice that anyone is willing to give up would be greatly appreciated.

Palmer Lake area, willow swamps,open slashes,

Follow Mackin Creek, hit the swamps and lakeshores as much as possible, especially if has either a tall pine stand or a regen block next to it. This time of year the moose are feeding and holding up, not wandering all over the place.

Be prepared to abandone typical hunting methods and get into the thick stuff, may be less of a chance of a shot but it may be the only way to locate them.

Always have a saw in the truck or ATV, blowdown pine will quickly trap you in the back of some of those roads, we had to cut our way out of 5 roads in one day during a wind event.
