Hello fellow HBC'rs. Im looking for help. Its been a dream of mine to start chasing sheep and goats in our beautiful province. Id like to start with a mountain goat next year. I am wondering if anyone could point me in a good direction to start off. Im looking for a fly in area or a drive to and hike. Im not asking for any honey holes, just some information on some areas that would be good for a beginner. Maybe names of some charter planes that go into the areas.

I live on the island, so id be looking for areas in the lower half of bc ( no higher than Prince George).

This is something I really want to do and im very eager to learn. Your information would really be appreciated.

Thanks, TM

I'm sure you'll get some good info here about fly in spots. There are lots of areas where you can hunt them without the cost of a plane. I you are interested, I can PM you about a spot where I saw several goats, including a nice billy this spring. It's in R4 and the area is GOS.

Look at the LEH areas with ok odds, not very low odds, but ok odds and research those areas, the ones 1 :1 and lower can be very tough hunts. You might even get lucky and find somewhere close to home.

You can take a boat across to the mainland and go up Toba inlet. Park and hike up and you will find goats.

You can fly in to Franklin Arm of Chilco Lake, great spot for goats, but you have to be in top shape.
