Our original plan was to head further into region 8 for white tails but at the last moment 2 of our hunting partners pulled out. :( so instead, we decided to check out some new areas closer to home. Woke up at 2:30 am, gathered everything, made breakfast and left the house at 4. First, reached the area past manning park east gate, the weather wasn't bad, a few showers with the occasional sunny breaks. Started on "P" FSR at 7:30, the area looked really good, lots of tracks, and some really wide openings. went all the way up almost to the top and it started snowing, and the view was just breath taking! met a few other hunters and all hadn't seen much, so we continued. after about 4 hours of hunting finally came across some game. 3 grouse sitting right in the middle of the road! Dad passes me the shotgun with no. 6's. quickly shot one bird and got a nice flying shot at one of the two and the other flew away in the trees, as i ran up to the birds, another one flushes from my right, Fortunately, I had already reloaded, so Bang, got him too. my first three in a row :-D. But that was the most exciting part of the hunt, after that rain started pouring down really bad, so decided to move on to the next one. Drove another 10 or so km to sunday summit, nice looking area with some heavy forest down below. went on it for about 30 km, not many signs of deer. met a few hunters on the way and non were seeing anything. Figured the weather was just too hard. Even though the Stupid weather guy said it will be cloudy with sunny break!. Packed up everything by 5 and headed home. not the best areas i have seen but definitely worth going back to. Lots of Atv trails, a few dozen hunters and tons of logging roads.
