Grunt calls

I'm getting the feeling that grunt calls are non-species specific, eg no difference between Mulies and whitetails. Does anyone have experience in this? I want to get a grunt tube thing-o, but most mention whitetails only.
Recommendations welcome.

I got the primos one from walmart last year , came with a can call and a instructional dvd . It said it was good for white , black and mulies , so yes I'd imagine your right .
