Not much of a story but a buddy and I were heading out Friday for a night hunt and then a camp over in the alpine for a morning hunt. We were about 45 minutes into the hike and as we were coming out to the alpine it wasn't 30 seconds before I tell my buddy to keep his eyes open as we have the best chance to see some action as we come around the corner. Sure enough as we come up to a little opening I see a little white spot on the side of a hill 200yrds away. I take a look through the binos and we see a total of 5 dear (3 bucks), I drop to the ground, set up the bipod and wait for the buck I have chosen to walk out from behind a lone tree that was obstructing the view (he moved left to right across hill passing behind lone tree). As he came out I tried to call him to freeze him but he didn't stop to look at me, instead he grabbed a little feed. As soon as his head came back up off goes the Barnes TSX from my 30.06. It was a 200 yrd shot (through the range finder) into the vitals and the bullet was through and just poking out the other side (hole in the hide but bullet still lodged in it). Buck dropped and then the real work started.
Ended up packing it out that night and 2 hours later in -6* we were back to the truck.
