Here is a bull that I took on the 13 day of Oct this bull was not what I was looking for but I took him on my solo hunt that day with only 7 days left I figured I better get some meat in the freezer for the winter :-D.

its was a long time to hold off not shooting anything was good that I finally had a shot at something after almost 6 weeks hunting.

I have this hunt all on video tape when loaded up on you tube I will add the links on how I got the bull into my truck all in one piece and back to my camp.

I don't need to do a wright up the videos tell it all latter my friends on HBC ,H-47 :-D..

Glad to hear that you got your animal.
I have been in the E K for 40 years now and this is the first year that
I haven't even got out to do any hunting, just don't have the interest this year.
I did get up to Fort St John and do some moose hunting, but no luck, just to warm up there.

I usually don't post much, but do a lot of reading on this site.
I hope that you find the idiot that is harassing you, and tell the rest of us.

Nice bull!... I also passed up quite a few nice legal bulls early on...another one a few days ago, a 7x7 with some broken tines on one side....but with 5 days left it's time to put one in the freezer like you did!

You're right nothing wrong with that bull, a man has to eat and some years you just wont see what you are looking for so I think you made a good call in taking him.
I'm also very glad you had a trail camera in camp for the last month, it sure paid off. Unreal.

Hmmmm... I see steaks, roasts, dinner sausage,stew meat, some nice headgear to see in the rear view mirror as you drive home. I would gladly take one like that every time I got to hunt elk, no problem whatsoever. Congrats, fine work!

This bull did not even flintch when I hit him I was shooting a 7mm with a bullet that is a Federal Premium Vital Shok Barnes 160 grain Triple-shock X bullet he ran down the hill and disapperd over the hill there was not even a spot of blood on the ground where he ran up to 100 yards down hill ,picture with the hole in the hart tells it all.

I would love feedback on the meat quality. I shot one elk through the heart like that, the meat was fantastic, almost sweet. I assumed from the massive bleed out the heart shot caused. The meat was lighter in color when we dressed the animal. I hit him high in the heart, not in the ventricles so the pumping action continued. Lucky shot.

All I got to say about getting this bull is its hard on me at my age to solo hunt these fantastic animals it takes a toll on a 64 year old man getting him back to camp and getting him ready for the butcher that bull ready to butcher skin off and all was 425 pounds:icon_frow..

Dan I have not had any of the elk I got this year I am feeding off last years WT meat got to use up that meat before I get into this years meat ,I am finally getting back to normal after all them months pounding the bush ,hunting ,scouting ,camp work ,putting feed salt out ,checking the 7 trail cams every 5 days ,getting up early to bed late ,I also would like to THANK all the members that complemented on this thread of mine it goes a long ways to keep on going for the next years adventures that are waiting me ,THANKS again H-47.

LOL after seven hours getting this bull out and done with ready for the butcher the fire was up and going at 4pm the rye was not in my hand at 430pm that afternoon ,talk to myself put some more wood on the fire have a drink then another drink put more wood on the fire talk to myself LOL not much fun by yourself :icon_frow..
