OK, just was thinking this over,
Say you were out hunting and only had a deer tag, and in the woods waiting for deer to pop out. Next thing you know a bear or a cougar is stalking you, scared for your life of them getting to close and was obivous they wanted to come for you, would it be wrong to kill it even if you didn't have the tag. If it came down to the kill, would you just contact CO and tell them the situation?
What would you do?

from other posts on here, that sounds like exactly what you should do.

Read page 15 (accidental illegal harvest) ..

http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/regulations/1012/docs/Hunting-TrappingSynopsis_1012Part1.pdf

Even tho their are assuming you have a tag.. i would still follow their directions. Thats what i would do..

It's not going to be easy to get answers from folks that don't want to incriminate themselves. I'm sure defensive shots on animals happen from time to time. But if you'd have been around here for a while, you'd have read about the inconsistencies that can and have occurred when an incident like this happens.

Some incidences are treated fairly yet some folks are raked over the coals. Makes one wonder what the right thing to do is.

To be fair to our Co's members, I'm sure they get all kinds of stories that don't add up. I'm sure it won't be too many stories in ones carrier before you don't believe any of them at the onset?

Everyone has the right to defend themselves. If you are being threatened by a preditor and you feel you are justified in shooting it then do so and report it to the CO's.

I would just let the predator kill me.
