Sorry, didn't get to posting until now.

The last few years John's (shotgunjohn) buddy of many decades and his son/s have joined us on opening day of waterfowl. It is great fun to catch up with good friends and share laughs and stories. Anyhoo, fowlweather and his Dad were able to land here on Friday in time for dinner and prep talk for the next morning's assault on geese.

They headed out to the previously scouted corn field as I headed to the calf barn on Saturday morning. I joined them after work and was just entering the field when guns briefly blazed. One goose down. That was it - slow, slow morning. I guess the geese decided upon a field more recently cropped.
The guys went scouting a better place for the next day and I headed home to prep breakfast ( you missed out Ian F :) )

Sunday found me in the calf barn again and the boys in a new and hopefully more productive spot. Again, as I arrived to the field geese came in :) This time more dropped. As the morning went on a few more came by as well as a few ducks, and fowlweather managed to snipe a snipe.

All in all a fun weekend, with just the right amount of plucking involved.
