can someone please help me understand the regs? Where if anywhere at this time of year can i fish the Cowician River with spin casting gear. (I don't fly fish) and how and where do I access it.

Oct 21 - Nov 15 everything above and including most of Marie Canyon is flyfishing only. Marie canyon is the few km below Skutz falls. You can fish however you want from Stoltz campground downstream. Another popular access is the trailhead at Holt Crk., near the Cowichan rifle range on the South side of the river just up from Duncan.

Yep you can not fish the Cow with anything but a fly right now.

I stand corrected. Glad someone's reading more carefully. I was just thinking it was a part of the canyon, where the fish stack-up but I'm wrong.

You have to watch that river, it has some pretty wicked regulation shifts now.
66mi trestle up fly only from Aug 1th to Nov 15th.

With no weight on it that may be hard to cast.
