Score?

Hey guys I had a hunting buddy over the other day. He saw a mount for a muley I had made previously. I knew it was obviously good enough for a trophy but he said it might even be a book deer.

Anyone able to estimate score? What do you need to be in the book?

I believe BC book typical is 175 ... Pictures are always tough to go by but I'm thinking you're gunna make it! :)

Very nice buck and yes BC book min is 175. Your buck looks close, but I'm certainly no expert. Others on here can probably give you a more informed opinion. If I were you I'd get it officially scored.

Definitely a nice buck! I'm no expert but I'd say he would net over 175. He's a nice symmetrical buck with good tine length.

Not too wide, a bit uneven so deductions would take away from the total score.

I would guess in the mid 180's Nice buck! Get it scored, it likely will make the BC book.

It's a nice buck but won't score real high imho, anyone would shoot it except some guys up here in 3 would pass.
They want a 200 typical or a huge non-typ mule. Some of these trophy hunters see and pass on over a hundred four points a season.

I think that it will net in the high 170s but nets are for fisherman. Looks like it would gross over 180 to me.

Pretty sure that buck'll gross over 169, and how uneven is it? maybe a hair? looks pretty even to me except for the right main beam being about 2-3"shorter, Id say gross 185-190, net 175+

I am not sure what it would score exactly buy will be very close to BC book. Most muleys don't have much for brows and this guy does have some so that will gross you 4 inches and you probably lose an inch net as one is shorter than the other. It has great mass all the way through so that will help big time. The points are good too. Where it drops off IMO is that the main beams are relatively short for the caliber of deer. If you don't make it that will be why.

Take the b&c sheet that is there and your wife's sewing tape and measure it. It is measure and record then add. That simple. You might be off an inch or two but will be pretty close.

Let us know what you come up with. My guess 186 gross. 179 net.

Certainly looks to be close to a bc book buck (my guess is 176"), but no where near a booner. Mind you the little ones usually taste better, especially those that have horns.

your buck looks close to a book deer, i would guess that to be between 168 - 185 easily, check out the boone and crocket web site and rough score it your self and find out if its close

You only need 180 to make awards for boone and Crockett. If this deer doesn't make awards, it would be very close.
