for us anyway.!

Had a feild scouted up and secured earlier in the week that was full of geese and a few ducks. 2 days before the opener got a phone call that some friends of the family would like to hunt it opening day but we could hunt it after.

Sweet.....

Since most of other feilds had corn stll standing we opted to skip opening day and hopefully the birds would get pushed around abit and end up on one of other feilds and we would hunt either today or tomorrow..

Well i got up early yesterday to scout, and drove by the feild full of geese. NO ONE HUNTED IT. so i pop by to speak with the farmer and he said, well if they didnt show up, too bad for them, have at er.

So we hunted this morning, expecting lots of geese(mix of lessers, honkers, specs and 2 snows) and maybe the odd shot at a duck. Well we had our limit of ducks by 7:30. Literally ducks EVERYWHERE. When the geese started flying the fog rolled in real thick. that coupled with 0 wind and 100 lessers that would just not committ but circle and circle (i know hard to believe:evil:) left the geese landing all over the feild. We ended up with very few geese in range(and shot poorly) and downed 3 honkers.

Corn coming off everywhere over the last day or 2. should be a good week!

Good hunt, that limit of ducks = alot easier cleaning then 10 honkers. I'll take that most days haha.

It was a pretty good morning, I was super pumped at how fast we limited out on ducks. Thought we would double limit today, then them dam specks showed up:evil:
I'm with ya CF cleaning 16 duck beats cleaning 10 cheeks any day, besides Lorne and I only limit out on honkers when we gotta carry them 600yds :-?

Should be a good season :-D:mrgreen:

So true!!!

that always happens, when your already loaded with dekes and blinds going nearly 1k Then you end up with a limit of 5 pound honkers to carry back

We don't have permission to drive all of our fields and at times the ones we do aren't driveable

Good going Boys!. I don't know how I missed this thread?. I was having coffee that morning and could have sworn I heard you 2 shooting down there. Good pics, keep them coming. By the looks of your truck Lorne, you need a bigger one.

I heard some lessers fly over my house that day...i wonder if they met some steel shot??...

We shot out of town that morning, so it wasn't us you heard. And the Lessers are the reason we didn't get many goose opporunities that day, silly buggers.
