View Full Version : how territorial are young moose?

Ran into a good sized spike bull in a swamp today..one week tell there open..just wondering what people thoughts are on the moose sticking around he was also with a cow and this is the only water source for a good 10 k around?

Very doubtful that he and her are in the only source of water for 10 km. This would not be the determining factor for their range; moose are usually fairly territorial and they will most likely be near by in a week, they are not even close to moving to their yards yet. He might be the cows' calf from last year if a big fella moves in mom will put the run on the little guy. In either case calling would give you your best chances to get him to come in, call like a cow and if he's been run off he will come, call like a calf and she will come with him in tow.
