Hi,

I am fortunate to have a few sheep skulls from the summer that need to be dealt with.

I wont be getting a shoulder mount yet so will be doing this myself.

I need to remove the horns from the skull so I can boil the skull and was wondering what was the best way to do this?

I have tried dropping them on concrete and whacking them with a hammer with no success. It has been about 6 week since the harvest.

Any suggestions on how to best remove them?

Thank you,

Andrew

Run a knife around the base under the horn, between the horn and the core.
Dampen the skull and place it in a garbage bag, put it in a warm place and let it sit for a while
Every once in a while grab the horns through the bag and try to wiggle them. When you feel them start to loosen
take them out and whack em on a stump and they will pop off.
Clean out the cores a good as you can and fill them with Borax while you boil and dry the skull, epoxy back on and you are done
