Was lucky to get a shared draw this year with our friend, Mr. Administrator Marc, and my husband shotgunjohn. Headed up to the area and our friend's cabin. The cabin this is nice, I must admit, especially when the winds are howling or it is raining sideways.

Day one and two where spent exploring so great moose country, but showing no recent sign. The snow hadn't hit yet and the muleys and mountain moose had no reason to leave the lush alpines. Walked called, quaded, drove, walked, called, called, walked - nadda. Best sign was down low, although not plentiful.

Day three we saw our first moose, a yearling cow standing in a river. No boyfriend showed. Found fresh sign at lower elevations, but no response to calling.

Tried a new direction on day 4. Luck !! Not a giant, had a broken antler, but it's my first and will eat very well indeed. Late the same afternoon Marc saw a bull as well, but it was too dark to shoot. So, I am happy to share with him. Thanks to our buddy for sharing his cabin and helping out.

Great looking moose! Would like to think it had something to do with me wishing you good luck when we met Hahaha. You must just be back in time now for the opener?

Pressure is off Tanya! What with that moose on the freezer (even sharing it) you've got a lot of fine eating ahead of you.

Congratulations.

Nothing wrong with that moose. You don't eat the horns so who cares about that.

Congrats Tanya on your moose. They are big animals aren't they? Even the "small" ones. That should be a tasty critter there - enjoy.

Congratulations Tanya on a nice bull! I'd say it's a great "starter" moose. They sure are bigger than Island deer and are my wife's favorite meat. I'd love to hear the full blow by blow of how you got it.
