Well, after no luck for elk first thing in the morning yesterday, we decided to head up into some high elevation logging and try to find some mulies. After reaching our glassing point and looking for five minutes in the pouring rain, my grandpa caught a glimpse of the back of a wolf about 6-700 yards away. We drove the truck up to a corner that was hidden from the location of the wolf, and started down the road. After 200 yards, they started howling on their own... right above us! Up the bank we went, and about a minute later my grandpa's .338 goes off and one is down at 130 yards! He shoots again and misses, then I catch a glimpse of one on the run. Quick yip and he stops, my .338 goes off, offhand at 200 yards, and I heard my bullet smack him! There were at least 3 more, 1 or 2 of them we never did see. 2 shooters, 2 dogs, who knows how many elk saved. Mine was a male(on the left) and my grandpa's was a female(right). Awesome day!

Nice work! I've had no luck bagging a wolf thusfar, and it always brings a smile to my face when someone else nails one. Somewhere, a lone, cranker of an alpine buck thanks you!

I guess the .338 is bad wolf medicine !!! Might have to dig mine out of the gun cabinet, now that I have my elk in the freezer :)

Had one in my sights at 20 yards last week near Pink Mountain. Came right in to my attempt at a moose call. Not into the trophy hunting thing so I didn't take it, though I was tempted...

Good for you. They say 2 wolves will kill 25 moose a winter, so congrats!

Was out to call some moose last night and not 2 minutes from the truck it sounded like 2 packs howlin. No sense in callin for moose.
