Went out for our 8 day moose hunt in region five last week and managed to fill 2 of our 4 LEH's. First moose (4x4) was just spot and shoot in a clear cut but the second one was a little more exciting.
Started with a couple calls in a clearing just after light and my dad waves me down that I got a response about 500 yards away at the edge of the timber. We work our way down to about 200 yards and get into shooting position to try to intise him out. After about 20 min of him fading back and forth and his interest seeming to diminish, I change my plan. I give a couple small bull grunts up on top of the clear cut and work my way down to the tree line where I can set up on the bull. Once I make it to the closest opening I heard him last I make a couple cow calls making him think there is a cow between him and another bull. Well it didn't take 30 sec after that call and his tone of grunt turned angry and he came out at me on a trot. Having not adjusted my scope down from 12x all i could see was black and he was still coming. I quickly got it down to 4x as I quickly backed into the clear cut. Set my cross hairs and put a 180 gr nosler partition on the end of the nose at 15 yards
Pretty exciting hunt here's a couple pic

Wasn't to happy about being left at home for this hunt but didn't complain with the treat I brought him home
