Hunting with Amphibious this morning, took this bull at 8:45am, with one shot @ 250 yards with my Model 700 Titanium 30-06. Instant drop, 168 gr Barnes TSX handload (exit - broadside lung shot - little meat damage!).

Well there is room in my freezer for the rest of the season's goodies. 8)

Why do I get the impression all he will offer is a huge stack of skinned coyote carcasses?

Good to know someone else popped a moose opening day. Got mine 25 minutes after first light. LEH is a handy thing. 35 inch spread, 594 lbs dressed out.

doubt its the only 2 pt left in the area I hunt, let alone of all BC  . Saw so many calves last fall that its not suprising that there is some young bulls running around this fall. Funny what happens when you dont pop the lil calf, they can grow up into mature animals 8-)

here's a better look at his big rack

I can't see the other side of the antlers-was it a fork or spike?And-at 250 yards, how dificult it is to spot that 3rd point,if they happened to be on both sides?[which would disqualify it ]

R side 3, L side 2

I could tell he was a fork bull when I first looked at him through my 10x40 Nikon binocs at 300+ yards, but conditions were good.

I had an LEH, so I didnt bother counting points, I just wanted to see antler

we crept up to a alfalfa feild surrounded by a wood lot before dawn and moved into position on the edge of the feild. began glassing and waited. nothing. more waiting. nothing. it began to drizzle and we slowly made our way to the oposite end of the feild spotting a doe&fawn but not much else, tooka few trails through the lot and walked the perimiter of the property, seeing a few more mulies, but nothing with bone. about 8:30 we came back to the vehicle and decided to check the first feild out again before heading home, as we walked in we spotted the moose from over 300yrds, and quickly glasses confirming it was indeed a young bull. we moved to the treeline and I took up position, animal in scope while Firebird moved to my left. (he was to be the shooter on this animal). as he nelt down the bull seemed to sense a bad vibe and began to trot across the feild. muttering "shoot!" a few times under my breath I waited for the Gread Donkey Sniper to do his job..... silence. the moose paused to unrinate and there was a wonderful crack from my left, I watched as a large puff of steam exited both sides of the animal, the moose fell to its haunches, rolled on it's back and turtled for a few seconds befor lying still.

Flawless bullet placement, and an excellent one-shot-drop. the way they should all be. good job Mark.
