Opening Day Elk

Here are a couple pics of my opening day elk. My girlfriend and I were looking around for some grizz sign all day as we both have draws, but didnt see much sign were we went. We had a little time to kill in the afternoon to figure out what we were going to do the next day so we decided to sit in a stand near my friends cabin and check out some white tails and possibly elk as there was lots of sign there. Just before dark a bunch of white tails came out. None of them were shooters though. A few more minutes of waiting and our eyes lit up as 2 cow elk came crashing out of the thick brush with this bull hot on them... So here it is! As for the rest of the grizz hunt, we didnt see any grizz, but found where they have been hanging out, so we will be going back for another stab at it!

It was hot. Too hot. Way too hot. However I had access to a cooler unit just north of where I got him. Would have been a shame to come home sooner that I had to.
