7-17 Help

My buddy and I lucked out and got a big bull LEH for 7-17. We are looking for any reports for the area. It's been a dozen years since I lived in PG and hunted that area. Google earth maps are from 2003 so not much help. We are going to be camping at Aminita lake. Any help is appreciated.

Be prepared for lots of moose hunters, its a zoo up there especially since the Pass Lake road has been washed out.

Where abouts is the wash out?

At the 25k mark but there is a 4 wheeler trail around it if you guys have quads.

Myself, I would set up base camp close to the washout and hunt the other side. Aminita lake is quite the busy area and you'll want to get away from the truck hunters.

I was driving & walking around there yesterday and the Amanita Lake area was certainly not a zoo yet. Didn't see anyone all morning.

Didn't see any moose either :(

Wait till the rut and calf season.

How grown are the cut blocks around there? Any new ones? Is there active logging?

There is a little active logging just past Aminita Lake but they might be done now. Most of the cutblocks are over grown so your best chance is to walk into the bush and call. A guy shot a large bull off the main Pass Lake road right in front of us last fall, it just happened to be crossing at that particular time.
