Just got back from Dawson Creek area. Did not get an Elk or Moose but got this nice Whitey. My son and I were always seeing the same Whitetail on this farmers land. We went to the land owner and asked if we could hunt on their land and to my surprise they said yes. After exchanging info we went at 4:30pm and sat by a big round hay bail and waited. We did see some smaller ones but when this guy came out I did not want to wait any longer. At 226 yards I had to wait till he cleared the barb wire fence before I could shoot him. He jumped the fence and beelined it straight for us. He was looking at us and walking right us. All he could have seen would have been our heads and the end of a pair of barrels. At 100 yards he went broadside to chew on some grass. Both my son and I were shaking we were so excited. I think they call that buck fever. I touched the trigger and it went boom. He went 10 yards and fell over. Later I found out it was a perfect heart shot. My young son drove the truck to the deer while I got my hands dirty. We had trouble loading him in the truck because he is so heavy. I bet he hangs at the butcher at over 150 lbs.
