Hi All
New member. Was wondering if anyone knows if the Double E camp is still open or, if they know of any other camps to stay at in the Christian valley.
Cheers

Double EE is still empty as of this weekend. Neville has quite the negative reputation with the locals in the valley. I think most are happy he's selling out. Just up the road on the right is a fellow with a couple cabins he rents out. George Dore his # is in the book. Good luck!

Ive met neville and stayed there before, he seemed like a great guy to me!

Ive stayed there twice and had a great experience. They were very helpful and accommodating. Both times we showed up at around 3am and he met us and set us up in a cabin.

Stayed at Double EE for last 6 years.Basic accomodation and priced accordingly.Neville has always been gracious and hospitable. He has tried to stick up for the hunters. Not so with some of his neighbors.

I'm sure he's more than hospitable when your paying good money to stay in one of his shacks!

Double E camp is open for bookings as of October !st 2011 Tel # is as follows (604) 463-0079 until end Sept 2011 The tel # at Double E is (250) 446- 2570 from October 1st 2011.through till December 20th 2011. The only problem Neville has with his neighbors are. Some of the property owners and woodlot owners who THINK they own the whole of the Christian Valley and all the animals who ROAM on it.!! They also try and dictate WHO WHAT & WHERE to shoot, even on CROWN LAND !!!

That valley can be a scary place to be with all of the on-going family feuds etc.

I've stayed at the Double E for years. Neville is OK in my books. Yeah the cabins are not 5 star hotels but they are clean, comfy, warm and the place has a shower. We've found him to be very accommodating.

The place is still up for sale, and it looks awfully quiet. Haven't seen anyone around most of the year.

Personally I can find better places to stay up there the locals do NOT like hunters from the impression I've got I'd rather camp by rock creek n drive up but I know they where open last year.

Yeah like blocking off public roads n putting gates on roads to logged areas on crown land you local boys may know where I'm talking about.

I think anyone who puts Nelville and his camp down are under-educated about him and the Double E.

A couple of weeks from now will be the 5th time I've stayed there, and I would recommend it to almost anyone.

Looks like with all the sales of land and such the places to stay are dwindling. Seems we have to resurrect this string and find some more locations. Anyone care to throw one out, I am at a loss. All the places we have been staying are slowly closing. Maybe I'll just sleep on a table at the rock creek pub?

Take a wall tent and camp in one of the many spots up toward Damfino Creek or Nevertouch Lake. Also spots further north along the Kettle River.

Exactly. For the cost of a few guys renting cabins for a few nights, you could easily pay for a wall tent, stove and cots. It might take two years to recover costs but then the world is your oyster.

About 25 km up from the turn off at Westbridge and not as far as the bridge to the Buddhist monastery.

i am not sure exactly how many there are but starting around the new General store outside West Bridge. Up to the 58 kilometer mark on the Kettle River there are quite a few places that rent cabins by the day or the week. As well as a number of provincial campsites that hold a fair amount of units on fist come first served.

Just curious as to where this new General Store is, and when did it open? I didn't see anything last year when I was through that area. I remember the previous one just after the bridge that burned down some time in the early 2000's.

Sorry, can't help with info on Cabins... There is lots along the Kettle but I really never pay attention to them as I usually have a camper or trailer to stay in.
