I beleive that blacktails are the most unique and the most forgoten of all the deer, when it comes down to hunting deer. So I was wonderin if of you folks out there got some pics of your best Blacktail buck(s)? Maybe a little story about the hunt as well? Rifle opens up here on sunday, so this is to get the ball rollin for the season opener.

Shot this buck in the early 80's while goose hunting on the Pitt River. It swam over and walked right to the edge of our duck decoys, maybe a 15yd shot! Nice 3 by 3 but it had one antler on each side that had fused, could have been an awesome 4x4! Shot a copuple others up on the west side of Harrison lake too but not quite like this one.

O.k. gang I'm just a die hard blacktail fanatic, I'm not trying to compete here. I believe not only myself but others here in the lower mainland would like to see some of the specimens that our area has to offer. After all BT are the most elusive deer in the family.... no? Eagle 1 hows about a picture of that 7x7 ?? Thanks folks and keep them comin..!

No photos, but my best blacktail was my first deer, shot in the meadows off the Holberg road near Port Hardy in 1970, a 4x5 I shot with my 303 Ross with iron sights. I kept the skull and rack but lost it when it split in half and then I moved.

This would be my ONLY blacktail, as I've seen more "tails" than heads LOL
This was 2 years ago, my son was 8 and found the deer in the clear cut before I did.

That was taken Sept 12/04 in the hills above Sylvester Rd. They've deactivated the road since then, his offspring are going unchecked!!!

Heres one from last fall that I put Steadygirl on after lots wining and crying.......... Her tone sure changed when she realized what was ahead of her. This guy was so meszmorised by the rut he walked right up to us, even though we startled him. Lucky ehhhh...

You just had to add that crying part! In my own defence, hiking with T-bone can bring just about anyone to tears:lol: ?Instead of T-Bone I though his name should have been "Just two more mountains" as that suits his nature to a tee! Truth be told I get out hiking alot more than he does, but then I eat alot more icecream too!

T-Bone is busy, workin. Then when he gets home he has to get busy building more fences for my horse. Maybe I could post a few pics. Not even a pink wall for a background anymore. I painted:lol: Now the walls are a nice fresh minty color. Deer looks awsome!
